Learn About Us
Education's Three R's:
Real, Relevant, and Remarkable!
Cricket's Critters understands the universal appeal of wildlife and nature in reaching children. We bring that appeal to life as we introduce science to your center, accompanied by live ambassadors that demonstrate many of the scientific processes we explore!
"Many adults, including educators, tend to underestimate children’s capacity to learn science core ideas and practices in the early years and fail to provide the opportunities and experiences for them to foster science skills and build conceptual understanding.” (National Research Council, 2012)
But that's not us! Children go from fear to fab as they learn how science makes the world work around them.
BRINGING SCIENCE TO LIFE WITH CRICKET'S CRITTERS!
Fun, entertaining and educational! Cricket’s Critters brings the love and joy of science, nature and wildlife to your center, entertaining your children while serving up a love of learning. Add that special something to your program that parents can’t get elsewhere!
The Three R’s – Real, Relevant and Remarkable!
Each week we will conduct two experiments that illustrate scientific principles. Based on the scientific method, children will pose a question and offer a hypothesis to answer the question. Then we’ll work (play!) alone and in conjunction with each other to mix, twist, combine, blow up, jumble and muddle to conduct our experiment, analyze the results, and reflect on the SO WHAT!
The So What is so important because we want to make it Real, Relevant and Remarkable! There is an answer to every question. But if you cannot apply that answer to your real life, and how it affects you, your environment and those around you, it falls flat. Making knowledge real, relevant and remarkable results in the ability to transfer knowledge: reapplication of new knowledge or skills that can later be developed into more complex knowledge and skills across all domains – The whole point of learning!

"Must we always teach our children with books? Let them look at the stars and the mountains above. Let them look at the waters and the trees and flowers on Earth. Then they will begin to think, and to think is the beginning of a real education."
